In order to explain this new feature, let us take you on a small journey explaining the classic evolution of jackpot payout mechanics.
1. The Origin – Single-Player Payouts On All Jackpot Tiers
When jackpots were introduced, it all started with “winner takes it all”. Up until today, this is the most common payout logic that exists in established jackpots. It pretty much allocates the entire payout of a jackpot tier to one single player.
2. Introduction Of The Single-Strategy Community Payout
A natural evolution was the introduction of community payouts on jackpot tiers. In essence, instead of having “winner takes it all” on a jackpot tier win, a new logic was introduced allowing operators to implement simple rule sets which split the win of a jackpot tier across multiple players.
In the example below, individual players win the MINOR and MAJOR tiers, while the MEGA tier is shared between the player who triggers the jackpot and a secondary group of players:
- 50% of the payout goes to the player who triggers the jackpot.
- 50% of the payout goes to the top 8 lifetime contributors to the jackpot (lifetime meaning since the jackpot started, essentially your Super VIPs who have been contributing).
Up until now, the community component (50%) was bound to a single rule set (e.g. a number of highest contributors to be awarded or a random number of actives in the last x hours).
3. The Evolution – Multi-Strategy Community Payouts
As products mature, we have felt that the current community aspect was not catering enough for the specific needs of operators. As operators have segments from normal players to Super VIPs, we wanted to enhance our payout algorithm to help ThrillTech clients to create the most targeted experiences.
Based on feedback received, we proudly present multi-strategy community payouts – the most advanced jackpot payout logic in the market allowing you to combine multiple payout strategies on a community win.
Let’s revisit the earlier example. The MINOR and MAJOR tiers are still won by individual players, while the MEGA tier is now divided among multiple rule sets.
- 50% of the payout goes to the player who triggers the jackpot.
- 20% of the payout goes to the top 8 lifetime contributors to the jackpot, your Super VIPs (the players who have contributed the most individually to the MEGA tier since its launch).
- 20% of the payout goes to the top 8 contributors to the current jackpot (the players who have contributed the most to the current MEGA since it was last won).
- 10% of the payout goes to 8 random players chosen from those who made at least one jackpot contribution in the last 48 hours.
Now these are just examples – this is not the limit. You can add more than three payout strategies and award more players than in this example. Your creativity is the limit.
